This spectacular concert featured a captivating selection of masterpieces, starting with Verdi’s powerful Nabucco Overture, setting the tone for an evening of musical brilliance. The performance continued with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1 in C major Op. 21, a timeless work highlighting the composer’s early genius and innovative spirit.
Adding a vibrant twist to the program, the orchestra performed Batuque by Oscar Lorenzo Fernandes, which captures the essence of Brazilian rhythms and traditions. The excitement built with Camargo Guarnieri’s Danza Brasileira, a lively and energetic composition that showcases Brazil’s rich musical heritage. The feast of Latin American music continued with the exhilarating Conga del Fuego Nuevo by Arturo Márquez and Perez Prado’s Mambos by Eugenio Toussaint.
Viva La Festival was a celebration of classical and Latin American music, brought to life by the exceptional talent of the Barrier Reef Orchestra, conducted by Venezuelan conductor Joshua Dos Santos.
Featuring our guest conductor Joshua Dos Santos
Joshua Dos Santo is a Venezuelan-Portuguese conductor forging a vast international career. A disciple of Maestro Jose Antonio Abreu and a graduate of Venezuela's celebrated El Sistema, Dos Santos made his debut at 16 with Cavalleria Rusticana and has since conducted all major Venezuelan orchestras. Dos Santos has led orchestras worldwide, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Orchestre Philhar; 10nique de Radio France, and the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra.Music Programme
